After four seasons as an Eagle, Scott Martin leaves Newcastle and the UK this summer to play in European competition as he heads to the Czech Republic.

The 6’8″ forward will play in both the Czech National Basketball League and the FIBA Europe Cup with his new club BK JIP Pardubice for the 2017-18 season.

As the news broke today Martin tweeted:

He thanked our fans for all of their support through his time in black and white jerseys:

Eagles’ Head Coach, Fab Flournoy stated: “We would obviously have preferred a player and person like Scott back at the club for a fifth season, but there was no way that we would stand in the way of the opportunity he had been offered. He leaves with our best wishes and appreciation for his dedication since he joined us from Notre Dame University.”

This move for Martin opens a further import spot to fill on our new roster with signing announcements to follow in the coming weeks as the new season grows ever closer.

The 2017-18 BBL season tips-off away at Leeds Force on Friday 29th September and our first home game of the season on Friday 6th October.
