Scott Martin gained his first starting five Team of The Week spot this week following a sterling performance at Surrey Sports Park this weekend. The Notre Dame grad has been working up to this for several weeks following numerous appearances in the top ten. Here is the full team for the week:

Devin Ginty (Durham Wildcats)

The guard becomes only the second player from the Wildcats to be featured so far during the campaign and gets his place after an outstanding contribution in the win against Birmingham Knights. Ginty racked up a memorable double-double of 18 points and an excellent 10 assists to star for the north-east club. He enjoyed his best shooting night of the season, going a perfect three of three inside the arc and was just as impressive and productive from long-range with four triples from just six attempts. The playmaker also grabbed four rebounds.

Jeremie Simmons (One Health Sharks Sheffield)

It has been a vibrant start to the season for the Sharks and Simmons gets belated recognition for his contributions after being the main man in an eye-opening win against title rivals Worcester Wolves. The guard and former Ohio State player finished the contest with the all-action line of the weekend which wasn’t all that far away from a rare triple double. Simmons claimed 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, to finally get off the mark with a debut BBL Team of the Week ticket as Sharks made light work of despatching the Wolves.

James Jones (Manchester Giants; pictured)

There will be few more impressive numbers during the entire 2013-14 BBL season than the quite astonishing 17 assists which Jones managed to dish up for Giants in their fabulous success against Plymouth University Raiders. The British star showed that he is much more than merely a danger from downtown with a terrific passing display which unsurprisingly books him a berth in our team for the first time. He also completed a sterling night of work by adding 20 points and two precious steals to hand Giants a huge boost of confidence.

Scott Martin (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle)

There is a long overdue place in our fantastic five for the Fighting Irish graduate who has been superbly consistent ever since he landed on Tyneside during the summer. The forward has already proven himself to be one of the most efficient and consistent performers in the league with his displays so far and his double-double against Surrey United was the standout contribution for the Eagles. He finished with an eye-catching 25 points and 13 rebounds to go with three assists, two steals and a block as his team cruised to victory.

Adrien Sturt (London Lions)

Having promised to help get the Lions get firmly on track, the centre followed up his words by delivering in a big way to keep the side from the capital in the early title race with a resounding win against Birmingham Knights. He produced the best performance of the weekend in the BBL and showcased his inside-outside game with 29 points which were made up of eight from ten inside the three-point line and also three triples sunk beyond it. Sturt also completed an excellent double-double by pulling down 10 rebounds.

Off the bench: Darius Defoe (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle), Rashad Hassan (Leicester Riders), Anthony Downing (Leicester Riders), Danny Huffor (Durham Wildcats), Ceslovas Kucinskas (Surrey United), Will Creekmore (Worcester Wolves), Mike Allison (Durham Wildcats)
